Every shade tree mechanic has been there. You spend all weekend working on your favorite car, and once the repair is complete, you reassemble it with pride. You shine up every piece because you love that old car so much. Finally, you get to the end only to learn that somehow you have lost a part. You soon discover that not only is it a needed part, but it is the one part that makes the car operate effectively.
Finding the right leader for your school is much the same; there is no replacement for that important piece. Without it, the school will never operate as well until God brings the right leader to you.
Today, we are facing a growing shortage of qualified leaders for our schools. George Barna states it best; The effective leader is “Called by God, functionally competent, with Christ-like character.” Sadly, many young people today are not sensing the call to ministry leadership as did previous generations. Many are leaving college with massive student loan debt, which may eliminate Christian school service as an option. We are also seeing many of our Christian colleges that no longer promote Christian schooling as a viable career option. Next week, we will explore some ideas of how to solve this growing dilemma, while we still can. Until then, carry on the good work God has called you to, my friends!
